What should I be focusing on? Well, if you want to be productive, what you should be focusing on is the thing that is going to get you further in your business. Let’s say, if we’re talking about business today, what are the most income producing activities that I can do today? I wouldn’t be waiting. For example, what we do not do … Let’s start with what we do not do is to plan what we’re going to be doing today in the morning. We always plan for the day after the night before. We’ve tried many ways of doing it. That might work for you. I don’t know. In our case, if I was to share with you something that we do that works really well for us is to plan the day after, the night before.
We typically have a half an hour planning session every day, an hour or two before we go to bed. The way we plan for it usually is we sit down and we make a list, and we make a list of things that we need to do. If we’re doing it on a Sunday, for example, a list of things that we need to do throughout the following week. Then what we do every day, every night, is we go through that list. We add the things that sometimes come up that we need to add, and then what we do is we ask ourselves the following question. What is, out of that list that we have, what is the thing, first of all, what is the thing that is going to get us closer to our goal? Then we go through that.
Let’s say that out of, let’s say, 20 items that we have for that week, as an example, we find five that are going to get us closer to our goal. Most of them or all of them would be income-producing activities definitely. Out of those five, then what we do is we would have a look through those five actions, and then we say, “Which one of those, out of those five, is the one that it has the highest possibility and potential to be the one that will get us even further, closer, faster to that goal?” That’s the one that we start every single day doing. Then, after that, we prioritise the rest of them, but we always focus on the one thing.
If I was to suggest and to recommend something, there are two things. First, plan the day after the night before. Make a list of everything. Download everything in one piece of paper if you want or on your computer. It’s up to you if you want to use technology or not, and then after that, take the five most important, income-producing activities that you can do the day after, and then after that, then you select the one that is going to take you further the fastest, and that’s the one that I would start the day with and would make sure that I accomplish as fast as possible the day after. After that, the rest of the things that you do that day, they’re as important as the first one, but if nothing else, you had made sure that that one is achieved, so you will feel better with yourself. Your self-confidence will increase, and the best thing is that you will be so much closer to your goal, that in itself will be, when you do it consistently, day in and day out, imagine what you can accomplish in just one week, one month, in one year.
One of the questions that we asked ourselves is, “How can I accomplish my 10-year goal in the next six months?” That’s a very good question to ask. Hard to believe, yes, but possible, I would say, too. It is possible. When you ask yourself very good and quality questions, you would be surprised of the results that you can get and the answers that you get based on that and how your mind works towards achieving those goals. Focus on planning the day after the night before, and the one thing … I would focus every day on is the one thing that is going to take you furthest, fastest, and closest to the goal.
