How To Get A New Person “Vaccinated”

How to get a new person vaccinated? I’ve always known that the linchpin, the key step in your process of getting someone to duplicate what you’re doing is actually setting their expectations. I believe you’ve gotta do that in the first few minutes when they join your team. You know when somebody joins their team, they’re excited, motivated, they’re inspired, they’re ready to take action, they want to take on the world. This is when you have to have the vaccination conversation.

Basically, you’re trying to vaccinate them against some of the negatives that they may be experiencing while starting out on their journey of success. You know, that added-on, it could be also an added thing that if they’ve never been in network marketing, they may experience some negativity as they go out to the marketplace and start sharing their product opportunities. So it’s really important that you sit this person down and you have a little conversation, whether that’s on the phone or in person, doesn’t really matter, but you need to have the vaccination conversation.

I actually use two things in my vaccination conversation. I use the stick and the carrot. The carrot is obviously the reason why they joined. Just so you know and you remember, the reason people join your organization is not because of the amazing products or services that your network marketing company has. They joined because of the deep knowing that there could be a possibility to change their life in the way they’re looking for. Because of that reason. So, if we already have somebody who’s joined our team, we must know what is that deep reason, what is their “why”.

So the first thing I will make sure that they understand, is congratulate them and say, “Hey, Mary, I’m so excited for you to join our team. This is finally the right way for you to be on track for your dream.” I’ll talk about how that looks like and what it would look like long-term for her to create the income that would allow her to have the freedom, the time, the income that she needs to create that dream.

At the same time, I will explain a few other things that may happen in the process. While in the ‘stick’ part of the conversation, I may ask Mary, “Mary, how would you feel in one year from now, if you haven’t really taken enough action, and if you haven’t achieved your dream, the reason that you joined this business?” So I will share both sides of the story, the carrot and the stick, and in addition to that, have a real conversation about setting their expectations in the right way. You know, “Hey, by the way, Mary, you may experience some people very close to you being very negative when you actually share this product business opportunity with them.” You know, “Hey by the way, Mary, I’m sure that you’re going to want to quit many times over. In fact, I’ve personally experienced that as well.” “Hey Mary, by the way, as you move on your journey, there will be times you won’t know what to do or who to speak with, but that’s okay.”

So making them understand there are certain things that may happen along the line, but they need to actually commit to a certain amount of time. Usually committing to the first 12 months. “No matter what, Mary, no matter how you will feel, what you experience, can we commit to each other that we will actually get to the 12 months mark?” If you can do that, you’ve just successfully vaccinated your brand new person. No matter what they go through, they will be prepared mentally, emotionally, and hopefully physically, to take on the challenge. So vaccination is crucial for you to have success and help people in your business.
