How do I lead my team through change? First of all, I would be asking myself the question, how do I lead my team, and even further, how do I lead myself. I think leadership is about having the certainty and the clarity and the focus and then being persistent and consistent on the actions that you take based on that decision that you’ve made. When you’re able to be consistent and persistent on that decision, I think people follow you because most of the time, what people lack is that belief. What they’re looking for when they’re looking at you, I think at the end of the day, they are looking for that belief that they don’t have when you show them that certainty and that the path that you’ve chosen is the right one. You’re going to create success or you’re going to make it happen no matter what, whether they follow you or not, is when people get drawn onto you.
Leading your team through change, first of all, I believe they were always in constant and never ending change. That means that you’re actually leading your team everyday through that change. That personal change that every single person goes through, from the moment they decide to be an entrepreneur by accepting the challenge of getting involved with your opportunity until they’re actually self-sufficient and they are an entrepreneur with all the skills and the qualities and the results that this type of opportunity and business can actually give them. Not so much about the money side of it, the financial side, which is great, obviously, but who they become. Until they get to that point, I think what they’re looking to find in you is that certainty, that focus, that persistence, that consistency. When they are in doubt, it sometimes happens, I would say, on a daily basis depending on what they go through. They look at you and they see that certainty. They get that renewed focus and energy and believe that they are in the right opportunity, they are following the right mentorship, and this is the way to go.
Now, in periods of bigger change, the only way that we can lead our team is to actually enhance that certainty, that focus, and showing that to our team specifically and especially when you go through periods of bigger change. To make it more obvious, to make it something that they see, that no matter what happens, you’re always going to be there. You’re going to be their rock for them. You’re going to be that person that they can turn to whenever they are in doubt. For as long as they stick with you, everything is going to be fine. I think that’s what we look for in life. I think, secretly, we all want to be led. We all have mentors.
No matter how successful you are, I think it’s always constant and never ending improvement, what Tony Robbins says most of the time. I think that’s what it is. As you go through that change, sometimes you question your beliefs, but then what you’re doing is, you’re looking to someone to reinforce that decision that you’ve made in the past and whatever challenge you’re going through in the present is the right thing and it’s worth it for you to go through that challenge. In periods of change, how you can lead your team is by showing 100% focus, certainty, persistence and consistency in the actions that you’re taking and showing your team.
